Dr. Semu Moges is the current president of Ethiopian Geophysical Union International (ETGUI). He is a water resources engineer with over 20 years of experience in education, research, and consultancy in water, environment, energy, climate change, sustainable development, and water-energy-food nexus modeling and understanding. He is currently working as a consultant. He is also affiliated with the University of Connecticut (UCONN) in USA. He was a previous faculty of ArbaMinch and Addis Ababa Universities in Ethiopia. He has also thought in several African Universities including Pan African University. He authored and co-authored several peer reviewed journals articles, book chapters on the water, climate, and transboundary rivers systems.

Menberu Meles is a research scientist with the University of Arizona and holds a Ph.D. in environmental engineering from the University of Connecticut. His research interests focus on groundwater and surface water interaction, modeling of hydrodynamic and hydrologic systems,  understanding the impacts of landscape management and land cover changes on hydrology and water quality.

Gabriel Senay is a founding member of ETGUI and has been serving as a Treasurer since 2007. Gabriel is a research physical scientist with the U.S. Geological Survey and a Faculty Affiliate with Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado. He conducts research in the use of satellite data for agro-hydrologic applications. Education: B.Sc.-Alemaya University, Ethiopia; M.Sc.-Wageningen University, the Netherlands; Ph.D.-The Ohio State University.

 

Auditor

Edom Moges is the auditor of ETGUI and a member since 2015. Edom is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of California, Berkeley (UCB). His research focuses on hydrological models and their uncertainties. He had also worked at Arba Minch University as a Lecturer.

 

Secretary

Enquye Negash is the current secretary of ETGUI and a member since 2019. Enquye is a postdoctoral researcher at the Center for the Advanced Study of Human Paleobiology at George Washington University. Her research focuses on understanding the paleoenvironmental context of human evolution using geochemical and paleobotanical and quantitative methods.
